PRODUCTION ENGINEERING
This course is offered at craft level currently. It boasts of well equiped workshop to enhance training of well qualified technicians in production field.
PLANT ENGINEERING
The plant option is offered at the level of diploma only. To qualify for this course a student requires to have attained a minimum of C- (minus) at O – levels with good grades in maths and physics or to have successfully passed craft certificate level in plant or production at Kaiboi technical or any other recognised institution.

ACCOUNTING SECTION
(a) KASNEB EXAMINED COURSES
We offer the following KASNEB examined courses:

(b) KNEC EXAMINED COURSES
KNEC examined courses offered by the accounting section include:
(i) DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTANCY
The minimum entry requirement is KCSE mean grade of C- and admission is done in September. It is a three year course. We presented the first lot for external examination in 2006 and had 50% PASS while the second lot sat for KNEC exams in 2007 and scored 100% PASS.
(ii) DIPLOMA IN PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
Also accountancy section offers Diploma in Personnel Management on part time basis (school based). The minimum entry requirement is P1 Teacher with Div II or KCSE C-. One is due for external examination (KNEC) after 9 semesters (HOLIDAYS).

The section is staffed with eight qualified, committed and widely exposed lecturers:
SECRETARIAL SECTION
This section offers the following KNEC examined courses:
(i) DIPLOMA IN SECRETARIAL STUDIES
Minimum entry requirement is C- in KCSE and the intake is usually done in September of each year. It is a three year course sandwiched with six months industrial attachment.
(ii) SECRETARIAL STUDIES CERTIFICATE (SINGLE & GROUP)
Minimum entry requirement is mean grade of D in KCSE and admission is done in May of each year. It is a two year course with three external (KNEC) exams per year i.e. in March, July and November.
This section is headed by Mr Oliver Wanga and has team of 4 experienced lecturers:
The introduction of the following courses is on the pipeline:
- Diploma in Human Resource Management
- Diploma in Business Administration
- Diploma in Banking And Finance
Small Business Centre/Entrepreneurship
This is a department whose main activity is to coordinate the teaching and/or promotion of entrepreneurial developments within and outside the institute. The teaching of entrepreneurshipfollows the ministry’s carriculum of inculcating the skills in the trainees/regular students. On the other hand groups/individuals who are not regular students benefit from tailor-made programs which are developed in liason with the beneficiaries and are market-driven.
Other Operations
- Organise seminars for entrepreneurship development studies lecturers to enhance competitive trainer needs to meet the changing market demands.
- Conduct research in entrepreneurship and reward innovation and development of appropriate technology.
- Develop business incubators to meet the expectations of vision 2030 and the changing needs of the society.
- Encourage youth and business people to develop appropriate work/business skills.
- Organise seminars/workshops on entrepreneuship development for small and medium enterprise owners to enhance quality os products/services.
Future Plans
- Increase capacity for business incubators.
- Identify attachment places for entrepreneurship lecturers during vocations.
- Develop an SME resource centre
- Organise seminars and workshops for all cadres SME practitioners and staff.
- Develop assistance programmes for potential and skilled entrepreneurs.
- Provide affordable consultancy and business advisory services.
- Link SME owners to resource suppliers and markets.
Challenges
- Time:- Since the duties of the office include teaching time is indeed a limiting factor for successful execution of these activities.
- Resources:- This refers to personnel, raw materials, time and money needed for optimum realisation of output from each activity. These are not readily available.
- Competition:- Most SME practitioners rarely have the necessary skills to compete with their peers in the industry.
- Absence of role models:- The role models would spur more potential entrepreneurs to venture into business.
- Legal and regulatory framework:- This is usually stringent and always costly hence discouraging potential entrepreneurs.
