Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing

Minimum Entry Requirements

1.Minimum entry age –  17 years

2.Aggregate KCSE (mean grade) C plain or KCE division II

3.The mandatory subjects should include a minimum of:

  • C plain English or Kiswahili
  • C plain in Biology or Biological sciences
  • C-(minus) in Mathematics or physics/chemistry/physical sciences

These requirements may change from time to time.

Course Duration: 3 and a half years.

Kenya Registered Paediatric Critical Care Nursing

Minimum Entry Requirements

  • The applicant must be a registered and licensed nurse (BscN, KRN, KRCHN) or equivalent from a state qualification recognized by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Must have two (2) years post graduation working experience.

Course Duration: 1 Year

Diploma in Counseling:Child and Adolescent option

Minimum Requirements

  • Mean Grade C(plain) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education
  • Doctors, Nurses, Clinical officers, Counselors, nutritionists,teachers who would like to take an extra course in counselling

Course Duration: 2 and a half years

Intakes: August

Paediatric Nurse Training Course(PNT)

Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Should be holders of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc.N), Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN), Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN), Kenya Registered Midwife (KRM)

Course Duration; 1 Year

Fee: Ksh 280,000 for Kenyans and $ 3,059 for foreigners

Intake: February and August

Gertrude’s Emergency Medical Technician(EMT)

EMT is trained to assess a patient’s condition, and to perform such emergency medical procedures as are needed to maintain a patent airway with adequate breathing and cardiovascular circulation until the patient can be transferred to an appropriate destination for advanced medical care.

Duration: 7 Months

European Paediatric Advanced Life Support (Epals)

Course Content

Introduction, recognition and management of the seriously ill child, basic life support and use of Bulb Valve Mask(BVM), foreign body removal (FBAO), Trauma, Cardiac Arrhythmia, Airway Vascular Arrhythmia, Newborn Respiratory Failure, Circulatory Failure and scenario Demonstration.

Duration; 2 days

 Gertrude’s Paediatric Phlebotomy

Course Content

Anatomy and Physiology of the Blood Vessels, Stress Management, Paediatric HIV and AIDS, Basic Counselling Skills, Customer Service skills, Types of Specimen Containers, Amount of requirements of specimen, Safety procedures, labeling and cannulation

Eligible Applicants

Nurses, Clinical Officers, Emergency Medical Technicians, Patient Attendants, Lab Technicians and those aspiring to work as phlebotomists.

Duration: 3 Weeks

Generic Instructor Course

Course Content

Adult learning, a structured approach to teaching, lecturing effectively, teaching skills, managing role plays and scenarios, facilitating discussions and workshops, getting assessment right, giving feedback, E-learning, the role of the instructor and annotated bibliography.

Fee: 30,000 for Kenyans and $375 for foreigners

Advances in Pharmaceutical  Care Training Course

The course will focus on current best practice in the compounding of paediatric extemporaneous formulations and medication safety aspects.

Gertrude’s First Aid Course

Introduction, principles of first aid, basic life support, foreign body obstruction removal, bleeding, chain of survival, choking, trauma management, fainting, cardiac arrest, burns, drowning, poisoning and febrile convulsion.
